Glossary¶
The terms used in Resthome and in nursing-home billing, valid in every country, explained simply. Each entry links, where useful, to the page that covers it in detail.
In Belgium
The Belgian terms and acronyms — INAMI, Katz, NISS, OA, MDA, eFact, eAgreement, the annexes, AViQ, CPAS, the noon rule — are explained in Glossary — Belgium.
Anticipatory billing¶
A billing mode where a month’s accommodation is invoiced the previous month, while the care allowance and the supplements are invoiced in the month they are provided. See: Billing overview
Billing period¶
The billing month in Resthome, which moves through four states: Draft, Generated (calculated), Invoiced and Closed. See: Billing a month, step by step
Care allowance¶
The daily amount paid by the resident’s health insurer for care, in the countries that have one. It depends on the resident’s dependency category and is calculated on their days of presence. See: Billing overview
Credit note¶
Document that cancels or refunds all or part of an invoice. Resthome prepares one automatically, for example on a departure partway through a month that has already been invoiced (accommodation billed in advance). See: Departure and death
Day-counting rule¶
The convention that decides whether a day of presence counts toward the care allowance. It depends on the country, hence the importance of departure and return dates and times. See: Absences and hospitalisations
Dependency category¶
The level of dependency given by the dependency assessment. The scale depends on the country; the category drives the care allowance where the country pays one. See: Managing a resident
Health insurer¶
The body that insures the resident for health care. Depending on the country, it pays the care allowance and exchanges data electronically with the facility. See: Managing a resident
National identification number¶
The resident’s personal identification number in their country, recorded on the resident’s file. It is required for the electronic exchanges with the health insurer, where the country has them. See: Managing a resident
Supplements envelope¶
The monthly grouping of a resident’s supplements (products and services outside the allowance). Any change automatically updates their invoice. See: Supplements
Third-party payer¶
Mechanism where the health insurer pays its share directly to the facility, the resident settling only their own share.
